One of the characters of her art is the merging of unexpected and unconventional elements in compositions  that posse their own logic. They have not been dreamt up or invented, they originate in the process of painting and define themselves in the growing painted constellation  and eventually  give rise to an image that  however strange  strikes a familiar note.

Since her childhood Mastenbroek ( a sailors daughter) is collecting shells, insects(who also brought her father) and skeletons. They are playing an important part  as is the female body with the attributes to complete her story.
